Safeguarding the Sanctuary: Guarding Against Cultural Trojan Horses in Christian Worship by
Donn LeVie Jr. Projected Publication Date: 2012
When Jude wrote about "our common salvation," he also felt compelled to appeal that we "contend
earnestly for the faith which was once and for all handed down to the saints." Jude was troubled by
individuals who had "crept in unnoticed" - a reference to false teachers and false teachings. Today, we
have "prosperity preachers" with little theological training packing oversize arenas and putting out
best-selling books that offer little in the way of scriptural support for their message; and preachers
with theological pedigrees doubting the existence of hell or a God who doesn't let everyone into
heaven. And sometimes accompanying it all is music for worship that imitates secular styles or is
indistinguishable from pop music. When Christianity becomes an amalgamated concoction of
Scripture and secular worldviews, it's too easy to allow our everyday experiences to become the
standard by which we evaluate the truth of Scripture.
Our current church generation is probably the most scripturally unaware since the Reformation.
People not having a solid understanding of God's Word fall easy prey to articulate, personable
individuals who nonetheless offer false theological doctrine and ideas. The church today already
suffers from people not letting their Christianity get in the way of their personal beliefs. The
post-modern questioning and even denial of absolute Truth often slips into the hallowed halls of
churches by way of "positive upbeat music" that promotes and fulfills a felt-needs, entertainment
paradigm often clothed in para-Christian lyrics. More often than not, such music is both lyrically and
musically devoid of the qualities that reinforce the purpose of worship, and can more easily allow
secular viewpoints into sanctuaries.
Applications of Sonic Branding: Strengthening Brand Identity and Extending Revenues Well
Beyond the Initial Point of Sale by Donn LeVie Jr. Projected Publication Date: 2011-2012
Sonic branding is the use of music or sounds to help establish brand identity with consumers. Author,
classical guitarist, and former marketing professional Donn LeVie Jr. uses a method that places
classical guitar music and a company's marketing materials together on a CD, called an integrated
CD, or iCD. iCDs are packaged promoting the particular business. Sonic branding with iCDs not only
helps strengthen brand identity, it helps reinforce the customer experience with products and
services, and builds repeat customers. The book is free upon request by qualified businesses; free
PDF will also be available to others. Free demo i-CD available upon request by qualified businesses in
the target audiences (wineries and vineyards; upscale restaurants; museums and art studios;
upmarket B&Bs, resorts; spas and retreats).
